The Malaysian Government published a gazette in its official website a full 6 months prior to the implementation of GST.
GST-Exempted Food Items but not limited to:
- Rice
- Flour
- Bread
- Biscuits.
- Noodles
- Sugar
- Salt
- Cooking oil
- Tea
- Coffee
- Fruits
- Lentils
- Vegetables (including spinach)
- Fish & Crustaceans
- Meat sourced from bovine animals, swine, sheep and poultry.
GST- Exempted Non Food Items:
- First 300 units of electricity to domestic consumers irrespective of minimum or non-usage for a minimum period of 28 days as per billing cycle is also zero-rated
- Water
- RON95 Petrol
- Dictionaries
- Encyclopaedias
- Reference books
- Newspapers
- Residential property
- Loan financing and hire purchase
- Life insurance
- Educational services including private education
- Tolled highways
- Gold,silver and platinum, in the form of a bar, ingot or wafer
- Currency exchange service
Start buying cars, servicing your cars/tyres, buy your white goods and electronic gears before April 2015.
